yakima Posted September 27, 2021 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Although you can turn on the grid as a compositional aid in the viewfinder it would be helpful if you could select a 16:9 grid. I generally allow room for cropping in post production in Lightroom but if the subjects cannot be placed tightly within the frame it would help to have a 16:9 cropping grid to aid in composition. Not essential but grids are an easy addition to make in software.
Advertisement Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Hi yakima, Take a look here Q2 compositional enhancement - firmware upgrade . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marchyman Posted September 27, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 27, 2021 The Q switches to 16:9 when the video display is selected. Toggle through the various display modes using the center button of the 4 way controller. Does the Q2 do the same? You do lose the various info displays and the image will be in color even if you've otherwise selected monochrome.
yakima Posted September 28, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted September 28, 2021 The various display modes toggle with the centre button. You can display a horizon line or the grid that splits the display into thirds (ie. 9 boxes). I never use the video function but I think it would help having a 16:9 grid for stills (not blanking the screen just overlaying a grid onto the full display area). Would be useful if you intend to present the images on a standard 16:9 television (through Apple TV in my case).
