pmendelson Posted September 26, 2021 Share #1 Posted September 26, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have a Q2M on the way and planning to get red filter for landscape and dark skies, but wondering if I should get a yellow or orange filter as kind of a "default" filter for enhanced contrast when doing general shooting and landscape in decent light. Thinking orange? Thanks! Peter
Advertisement Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Hi pmendelson, Take a look here Default color filter on Q2M?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Hemmer Posted September 26, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2021 By no stretch of the imagination am I an expert but personally Ive been very happy with using an orange filter on my Q2M in pretty much in any daylight situation.
Leica28 Posted September 27, 2021 Share #3 Posted September 27, 2021 Yellow or orange works well as discussed here previously. It all depends on what kind of image you are after, lighting conditions, etc.
Anakronox Posted September 28, 2021 Share #4 Posted September 28, 2021 My most common color filter across my Monochroms is the B+W 40 orange filter. It can give a dramatic look to skies and increases overall contrast. But I still use yellow and red filters depending on the light. If you shoot landscapes, consider a green filter so that your trees and grass stand out in the final image.
harmen Posted September 30, 2021 Share #5 Posted September 30, 2021 I also lazily keep an orange filter mounted at all times. It happens to work well with my wife’s skin tone, even if I would not call her orange 😁
hdmesa Posted October 2, 2021 Share #6 Posted October 2, 2021 I preferred to swap back and forth between the B+W light red and no color filtration (Zeiss T* UV). There's almost no noise penalty at higher ISOs on the Q2M, so why not?
