Quirknesses of the SL2-s magnification system

Hi,

I shot a lot with manual lenses and the magnification feature offered by many today's mirrorless cameras is key for me in getting sharp pictures.

The SL2-s would be an almost perfect tool for manual shooters except for the following really annoying quirknesses, that could be fixed with a few hours of work on the firmware.

• Joystick magnification: it magnify always at the maximum available, why?? One can reduce the magnification with the thumbwheel, however next time it will default on the maximum.
• Joystick magnification: If you click one time it magnifies, however if you push again nothing happens, why??? The same however works when you are reviewing a picture, so why do not they make it consistent??
• Magnification via reassigned key: it works and it saves the magnification level you have used last time, however if you accidentally push the Joystick and then customised key it defaults again on the maximum magnification
• Magnification with thumbwheel is the perfect solution for the manual shooter, however it does not work if you are not using the Leica L->M adapter. However, it actually works if you remap one of the customisable front key, that means it is not a problem of compatibility, it is just that the implementation is broken.
• Related to this, when using a non-Leica L->M adapter: the settings Wheel Assignment MF-Lens is ignored and the setting Wheel Assignment AF-lens is used under Customise control, although I am clearly using a manual lens.

It would take very little to make it perfect, I hope Leica will work on this in next firmware versions.

Submit requests and feedback via Leica fotos app. I also find the magnification issue back to front when not using the L-M adapter and lack of DOF preview when using a lens with electronic aperture blades.
