Lightroom and NEW version of Google Drive

My previous experience was:

Lightroom does not like Google Drive.

My observation: the EXIF info edited in Lightroom cannot be stored into images inside a Google drive, but can be stored into those in normal folders.

IT support explanation: It's two different kind of file structure and technologies.

 

However Google Drive is my only cloud solution and I don't want to use other options as I have unlimited usage. So what I did was:

- All original files stored on harddrive, after their EXIF has been edited, copy them into Google Drive (Google Drive Stream was the one I used).

- All edited export files goes directly into Google Drive.

That doesn't work well as I often forgot which files I have edited which not. And it is not an automatic workflow.

 

Then Google Drive Stream has been replaced by Google Drive Desktop. The new application has provided a new function:

Select local folder and sync with Google Drive.

This was not possible previously.

The new Goole Drive can also upload into Google photo as well. Which was also not possible in previous Goole Drive Stream.

 

My question is:

Will this new feature also make it Lightroom friendly?

Can I select the photo folder to sync with Google Drive while still able to edit the EXIF file?
