I wanted a portable off camera or on camera flash unit for my SL (and M if needed).  I wanted something powerful, portable and not ridiculously priced.  After reading about expensive Leica SF60 being a Nissin i60 with firmware changes, I started looking elsewhere.

I came to the Jinbei HD-2 (rebranded in the US to Westcott FJ80) round head speedlight which is a GN60/80WS speedlight.  The unit is a good deal and has multi camera platform support (except Leica).  I bought a unit and it works really nicely on my SL in Canon mode.

I called the Australian rep who contacted Jinbei as well as Leica Australia and suggested that Leica be added to the next firmware update in Nov.

The speedlight works like a charm in M mode, but I look forward to HSS and to a lesser degree TTL.

Just thought I would give kudos to those involved and the manufacturers willingness to listen to users.

Let get wright on it!

Sorry to say to you that it will not be a TTL version with leica of this flash.

Here are a few points:

1. Firmware take leica a really long time to create, test, and publish. When they do they already have a plan what goes in and timing.

When ever it comes out will have, with some hope, the bug fixes or 2 years that we have been waiting for, and some other stuff.

2. Licensing deals take money and time to make, I can't see Leica focus on a small Chinese flash company to get their flash on Leica. I hope some bigger company like Elinchrom and Profoto will reach an agreement and support Leica.

3. It is not just a firmware update. It was explained to me that the pins of the hotshoe on the leica are different order than any other manufacture. that means that the only compatible pin is the middle one.
