leicashot Posted September 1, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am wondering how long it takes for you guys to view/zoom in to an image after shooting it with your M8. Mine takes about 8 seconds or so to write a RAW file and allow me to zoom in on it....if I shoot a burst of images, it can take quite a while to view images.... ......I'm not really complaining as I feel lucky just to be able to see my images on a digital M camera, but am wondering if this time is normal......? Guest guy_mancuso Posted September 1, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 1, 2007 Well it depends on the speed of the card and it's read and write times . Also the size of a card 2gb will be faster than 4gb because it can read the capacity faster. than you have Dng only will be faster than DNG and jpeg together. Another factor if IR filter is on in the menu item becuase it needs to process that in. So a lot of factors going on to determine actual speed. Also ISO will also affectwrite times the higher the ISO the longer. So depends on what you have going on with your setup. But your timing does seem about right in general
leicashot Posted September 1, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted September 1, 2007 Thanks Guy, I just needed to know if I had anything to worry about.....and with this camera's history, it's good to know I am 'so far' in the clear.........cheers
marknorton Posted September 1, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 1, 2007 I'd like to see a firmware enhancement to retain the last image processed in memory to allow much more rapid access to it, at the expense of a reduction in the raw buffer capacity. I'd also like to see the firmware multi-thread so that you can review images, zoom and scroll while an image is being written to the card in background. At the moment, once the card writing has started, there's nothing you can do.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted September 1, 2007 Share #5 Posted September 1, 2007 It sounds like you are okay . If you let me know what you have setup i can test it against mine to some degree. Card, capacity,ISO,IR filter, Dng only and whatever else i mentioned we can all try it and see what we get. I would count from time of shot, review than hit play immediately and see how long or some parameter like that
