I recently picked up a Contax G2 with a Planar 45/2 which turns out to be an incredibly beautiful lens.
I love its focal length and even more its rendering. It has warm colors and is not too contrasty. I find the look is very aesthetic and well-balanced.

Now I'm looking for a counterpart on my M's. I know that people can convert the G Planar to M but that's not what I want.
It's okay if it's a 50mm since the M doesn't have 40mm or 45mm frame lines.

Currently I have the 50mm Summicron IV which is on the neutral or cooler side.

What do you think is the closest equivalent regarding warmth, tones, contrast and overall rendering?

  • ZM Planar 2.0
  • ZM C-Sonnar 1.5
  • CV Nokton 40 1.4 MC/SC
  • CV Nokton 50 1.5 v1
  • CV Nokton 50 1.5 v2 (Vintage)
  • CV Heliar Classic 50 1.5 (New)

Here are some test shots I did with my G2 and my M7.
Same film stock, same location, same minute, same light.
I cropped the Planar so it shows the same image.
The Planar is definitively warmer and has a more appealing rendering (at least to me):

This is a bokeh example (cropped from a portrait).

The G Planar's bokeh balls have a brighter circle than the inner area. I do like this.
