doubice Posted September 1, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I seem to remember reading on Sean Read's site that the Zeiss 28mm Biogon cannot be coded. Does this apply to hand coding (the Sharpie technique....) or, impossibility to have the recesses milled into the mount by John? Thanks, Jan
Advertisement Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Hi doubice, Take a look here Coding Zeiss Biogon ZM 28mm - John Milich?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
johnfriar Posted September 1, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 1, 2007 I have this lens and, in the past, have been able to hand code it using a sharpie. However, since upgrading to the latest firmware, I have been unable to have correctly identified. The camera either thinks it's a 90mm or undefined. I suspect Leica reduced the tolerance in reading the code. John
doubice Posted September 1, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted September 1, 2007 Thanks for your info John. What I am also trying to find out is if anybody actually had this lens mount successfully milled by John Milich. Best, Jan
etrigan63 Posted September 1, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 1, 2007 I asked John about this and he said it is doable. He just milled my CV 40mm Nokton and one of the milled wells fell on the screw hole. I just painted on that spot right on the screw using white enamel (I coded my Nokton as a 35mm Lux) and my M8 read it perfectly. Latest firmware. The trick to the new firmware is to paint both white and black.

My lenses are a mixture of Zeiss, Voigtlaender and older Leica. All lenses were done by John Milich. doubice Posted September 1, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted September 1, 2007 Hi Volker, Is the 28mm Biogon among your lenses? Thanks, Jan
volkerhopf Posted September 1, 2007 Share #7 Posted September 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry Jan, my Zeiss lens is a 50 Planar. The only 28 is in the TRI elmar (first version) and that works well coded. Regards Volker
