Who has switched from the MD-262 to an M10 and regretted it? Or are you happy with the switch?

My guess would be about 2 stops. But I almost never shoot above 6400.

The WIFI is not a distraction to me. On rare studio shoots I do (m10-d is my only camera) I use the WIFI with a tablet for quick checks with subjects. But if that would be a large part of your usage I would not opt for the M10-d and definitely go for a regular M10 or M10P.

The EVF is no distraction, but a useful feature in rare occasions as well. But 9 out of 10 times I stick to using the rangefinderwindow.

Exposure compensation button on the back I almost never use.

The lever is a plus for me, esp when shooting with a pre -asph 90mm summicron. :)

Curious - when you use exp compensation on your M10-D, does it blink the value (i.e. 0.3 or 0.7) in the viewfinder like the MD does? I hate that. I’d rather see the chosen shutter speed (aperture priority mode) right away than wait the 1s for the exp compensation value to show.

the shutter on 10D is noticeably nicer to use IMO. as you know the d-262 is nice too but the 10D is extremely stealthy and smooth (although same as 10P not standard 10)

Do you mean it’s a quieter shutter? Or do you mean the shutter button itself is nicer?

on/off switch of 262 is so convenient and natural to flick it off after use. I keep leaving my 10 on by accident and then the battery drains (see previous point )

Doesn’t the M10 have the shutter on/off switch too? Or am I mistaken? I personally hate the S/C/Self timer switch. I use S 100% of the time but often find myself accidentally flicking my MD262 and M246 into C mode because it’s so close.

I honestly can’t see any difference in RAWs or colours

Would be super curious to see some side by sides at ISO 3200 and above. This is probably my main reason for wanting to switch into the M10 ecosystem.

no blinking value. I believe.. also no exposure compensation value to show in general...but I need to check tonight at home 🙃I am in doubt now...

The good thing of the exposure compensation dial on the back, is that you see the settings when the camera is off...

Yeah, I love that! If it shows with a physical dial and doesn’t show a blink when you half press the shutter, that’s a huge plus for me. Let me know if you don’t mind?

The shutter button is the same but pressing it is a different experience.  The d-262 is a satisfying clunk/click but the 10D is mmmm, certainly quieter and I want to say “softer” or “quicker” also - a bit like a leaf shutter sensation. It’s really nice and if you want to take multiple pics (single mode) it’s just really rapid . On a related note I don’t think the 10D can switch to continuous mode without the phone app  unless I’ve missed something

Regarding the on/off - the on off of the 10d is on the wheel (same position as ISO wheel of the d-262) which i find way less intuitive in regards to switching the camera off after use. So I forget. Not sure where it is on standard 10

id be happy to send over raws shot at different iso feel free to message me with what you need. Super late here in Aus so but can do tomorrow

M240 is .68x; M10 is .73x, with larger diameter opening and greater eye relief.

Jeff

Thanks, so the "eye relief" is function of body thickness? Thinner body [M10] provides more eye relief.   BTW, I saw your "eye relief" wiki link on the next page, please don't requote.

I just compared 0.68 [M246] and 0.72 [MP] magnification, no difference except frame lines are better visible in LED illuminated camera compared to one fitted with frame line illumination window. I don't think there is any practical difference between 0.72 and 0.73.

M10 provides a better viewing experience for me, which is my sole concern, regardless of details. Others have different opinions and experiences.  Welcome to forum life, especially regarding matters of eye comfort and viewing preferences.

No blinking value. Indeed after one second you see the exp compensation. However when you have exp compensation on. There is a tiny dot blinking in the shutter speed value. But the exp compensation value that is displayed later is not blinking.

Ohhh ok thanks!

so if you have exp comp on, shutter set to A and half-press the shutter, do you initially see the exp comp amount or the shutter speed?
