lenjh Posted August 31, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 31, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi - I just started using the in-camera B & W option on the M8 but when I downloaded my images to Lightroom they show up in color but are still on the sd card in B&W. Is this a Lightroom issue for those of you that use LR? Kind Regards, Leonardo

Lightroom will look at your Raw file (DNG) and display the color image based on that DNG. You'll then need to convert to B&W inside of Lightroom (or export a color image and convert it to B&W in Photoshop or another image editing app)

I think I understand. I thought on my OLD D200 Lightroom displayed both RAW and JPG. So, if I want to see the in camera B&W without converting I need to import using something other than Lightroom? Hope this makes sense. Leoanrdo
TEBnewyork Posted August 31, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 31, 2007 I asked a similar question on the DPReview site. One way to stop from seeing the color DNG is to set up a preset that you chose on import with some basic black and white settings and Lightroom will do the DNG conversion right then. You don't lose anything in the process you just won't see them in color like you do now.
lenjh Posted August 31, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted August 31, 2007 Thanks, I'll give that a try. I rather like the B&W in camera looking at the LCD it would be nice to see it w/o any converson the the big screen.
jimcollum Posted August 31, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 31, 2007 Thanks, I'll give that a try. I rather like the B&W in camera looking at the LCD it would be nice to see it w/o any converson the the big screen. if you go to settings in Lightroom, under import you'll see Treat JPEG files next to raw files as seperate photos clicking this will allow you to see both the b/w jpeg and the color dng

Piers Posted September 1, 2007 Share #8 Posted September 1, 2007 You can also set up a BW profile with appropriate contrast etc as "camera default" in ACR (Mac at least); there is a couple of generic BW profiles that ship with the C1 LE suppled with the M8 (select via preferences and substitute for the M8 profile.) that will show all imported files as BW.
