M.Hilo Posted August 17, 2021 Share #2 Posted August 17, 2021 Bring it to any decent hardware store . . . they'll have it or can order it
M.Hilo Posted October 26, 2021 Share #3 Posted October 26, 2021 In retrospect I was wrong: for the wooden Leitz easels the black knob must come with 1) the shoulder screw and 2) a counter bolt that's more like a small rectangular plate with the proper screwthread. This plate's sides are made to fit this piece inside the sliding system of the blades . . . What I had in mind before is the round black knob that sits on the lever of the clamping system of the Focomat IIc: same knob but with the screwthread inside it. That one I recently got in a hardware store. But it wouldn't have worked for the Leitz easel.
Richardgb Posted November 14, 2021 Share #4 Posted November 14, 2021 It will probably take longer to source an exact replacement of the knob than to find something that will do the job. As suggested above, a decent hardware shop may be able to help, but in any case will most likely to determine the thread size. Being 'Leica' it's almost certainly a standard metric size - and it's more than likely that Leica themselves didn't make the part anyway. Many manufacturers supply "standard parts" - just search online using this term and you'll find many such offerings. For example (I have no connection to the company), scroll down this page and you'll see something familiar.
M.Hilo Posted November 14, 2021 Share #5 Posted November 14, 2021 Richard, you will be happy to know I actually found both the black knob and the counter part that locks inside the blades . . . all okay!
Leicabimmer Posted November 24, 2024 Share #6 Posted November 24, 2024 I know this is an old topic but I have a question regarding the knobs for the Leitz easel. My copy of the easel has the knobs but is missing the hardware into which the knob is threaded allowing you to secure the arm into position. Can someone out there please take a photo of the underside of the arm showing what the threaded piece looks like so that I might manufacture it to fit? Thanks!
