Possibly so. But leaving out the leader of the film is something anyone of us can do with a manual analog camera: when you rewind the film into the cassette you FEEL it when the film disengages from the transport system on the right side of the camera. And once you feel it coming lose, you can just open the camera. Again, I prefer to wind exposed film completely back into the cassette and brake open the cassette to get the film out. My main reason for this is to not pull the film through the cassette's slot again. You risk damaging the film and it is unnecessary Edited August 10, 2021 by M.Hilo

Trust an Aussie to understand the full scope of uses for a bottle opener..... But that is one of my various techniques for film-tip acquisition, as well. So is the technique of "force-feeding" the film into the picker by reverse-rolling the casette spindle. Gotta really wedge the film into the sliding plates for adequate friction and grip. And the "wet-gelatin-as-glue" retrieval method also. Learned and used them all over the decades, as needed and depending on what was available.
minh0204 Posted May 6, 2024 Share #23 Posted May 6, 2024 Resurrecting this thread as I know of a 100% surefire way to extract the leader with the Kaiser tool or similar. When rotate the film with the first tongue fully inserted, you will hear 3 distinct clicks, 2 clicks close to each other and a third one. Insert the tool's 2nd tongue after the first 2 clicks, that'll position the 2nd tongue over the film leader and the 1st tongue. You know you have succeeded if you hear a ratcheting noise as the 2nd tongue is pushed in, that's the sound of the hooks sliding over the sprocket holes.
