HI,

I have an early version of the Q type 116. It had dust on the sensor soon (about a year) after I bought it and I sent it to NJ for a free cleaning. Now, a few years later the dust is back strong. My question to all; should I send it back and pay for the sensor cleaning before selling it or just sell as-is? I've attached a sample image showing the dust and a bird. I bumped up contrast and blacks to make it very clear where the spots are. Before anyone asks, I don't keep it inside my vacuum cleaner or anywhere that is dusty. It's been a very strong camera and I love it but I think it's time to move up to a Q2 or something else. Thanks

  • minoxthecat changed the title to Leica Q type 116 Dust on Sensor

Did you take the usual precautions after the cleaning, like tape the mic/speaker holes and cover hot shoe? Do you shoot a lot of macro?

Just curious because that's a decent amount of dust on there. When I bought my Q, the original owner sent it in for a sensor clean and they installed a sensor shroud which is supposed to mitigate the dust issue. It listed it as such on the repair invoice. I spoke with someone at Leica NJ and was told that the Q-P comes with it from factory.
