Little Update: today (8 weeks after explaining Leica that the replacement lens hood is as bad as the original one) I have been asked to return it for inspection. So did I and am now without lens hood for the moment

5 months after my purchase I still have no solution for my problem. Probably it will take some more month until they will be able to analyze the problem.
Not brilliant at all the customer service in this case.

Let’s see what comes next.

Had the same hood-issue with my Summilux 50mm 1.4 Asph BC. Wetzlar solved it quickly at no cost.

The Lux is nowadays shelved in favor of the Nokton 50mm 1.5 Asph II MC (so much nicer to use) together with the inexpensive (6 eur) but efficient 43mm metal hood from "Kortingcamera".

Here's my update. In August I was in Europe for a bit and took the 1.5 hour drive to Wetzlar. I was staying near Wiesbaden. I had made an appointment for customer care so they new I was coming. I showed the customer rep the problem and the communications. I was told that this was absolutely an issue and that they had replacement hoods in Frankfurt, but not at Wetzlar.  Yesterday, I received the new hood. It's been a busy few days so I haven't opened it yet. Probably tonight. I will report back.
