MJLogan Posted August 30, 2007 Share #1  Posted August 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) The long-rumored L10 is official: http://panasonic.co.jp/pavc/global/lumix/index.html  It's even been previewed at DPReview: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0708/07083011panasonicL10.asp  Nothing remotely interesting about it, to me--a very "me, too" camera as opposed to the L1/D3, which was a real statement. I hope Leica will leave it out of their rebadging program.  The 14-150 Vario-Elmar lens is official, too. http://panasonic.co.jp/pavc/global/lumix/leica_d_lens/zoom_lens03.html I'm looking forward to trying that out on my D3.  While I understand that the L1/D3 have not exactly set the world on fire, I'm saddened to see its distinctive design and control layout so totally abandoned. If the L1/D3 ends up a dead end like the LC1/D2, I'll be much sadder still. Hopefully they will push some more lenses to the market now, I would really like some telephoto glass in the ilk of the D3 kit lens. Â Karlitos. Market laws do not seem to hold in this case. The lens (1.4/25) is the undisputed leader in fast primes, it's in high demand, price is stable - but there are none to be had. The L10 body has image stabilization that can correct for some camera shake by moving the image sensor. In cases where image stabilization also is built into the lens, the camera body overrides the lenses for the task, the company said....." I find it strange and to me illogical that with an OIS 14-50 already available separately, they include OIS on this "junior" 14-50 lens if there is sensor OIS. Â And it seems that we can look out for more 4/3 lenses..."It will be expanding that lens range further. "We're fully intent on blowing out our lens portfolio," Campbell said. Having a wide array of lenses is an important part of fulfilling the promise of SLR cameras." Â Prove me wrong - but I don't really expect Leica to re-badge this one. I agree with MJLogan that I am sad to see the Digilux 3 and it's quirky design possibly come to an end. Â It strikes my little deisgn heart as pointless that they would introduce a Me Too dSLR, but what the market wants, the market gets. Â I hope (though seriously doubt) that Leica will continue the Digilux 3-style dSLR camera. Too bad, I loved the chrome/black look, the whole twisted sideways quasi-RF lay-out.. oh well. imnotaniceboy Posted August 31, 2007 Share #20 Â Posted August 31, 2007 With the introduccion of the 14-150 with aperture ring i guess they will continue to make pro lenses with aperture ring and pro bodies with shutter dial. If not, I'll feel betray and will switch to canon, nikon or other brand with similar products but better and cheaper equipment.
