ajthornbury Posted August 29, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted August 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi my D2 is now back and working after 2 months away at Solms. They seem to have done an excellent job, since it looks like a refurb. Camera all shiny and clean. Even odd scratches that were around the strap lugs have gone. Thanks Leica. wda Posted August 30, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted August 30, 2007 This is good news John. Mine went off last week and I was told 4-6 weeks in one part of the letter; a little longer in the Leica reprint explaining the repair scheme. I really miss it and could have done with it yesterday. ajthornbury Posted August 31, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted August 31, 2007 Patience David, it's well worth the wait. My original estimate was 3-4months, delay due to sensor shortage. They now have new stock and seem to be moving quickly. Good Luck. Alan
FrankA Posted August 31, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted August 31, 2007 I just purchased a used D2 and so far things are fine. The camera store did not know about the sensor issue. I find that curious since they are a leica dealer. Does leica let you send it in even if you don't have a problem? Or do I need to wait until my sensor fails? I have been told that leica covers this even if it is second party ownership? Is this true. Can I send it to new jersey (I am in the usa)? Thanks, Frank

ajthornbury Posted September 3, 2007 Author Share #6 Â Posted September 3, 2007 Hi Frank, Leica guarentee the sensor work no matter how old the camera, I bought mine second hand at the beginning of the year. Leica didn't quibble. You need to contact them first with any symptoms, they will then confirm sensor diagnosis and give you return instructions. The sensor will need to be giving problems before they accept it. Alan.
