dspeltz Posted August 29, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 29, 2007 I stopped using the soft release button. It raises the release above the trim around it and if in a case, is susceptible to being pressed down and being jammed. That did happen to me. It is not worth the damage I suffered. gesper Posted August 29, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 29, 2007 Recently Tom referred me to Photo Village. They were able to send me one very quickly. So far I find it very helpful and have not yet run into the battery discharge issue as I always remember to turn the camera off.
morffin Posted August 29, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 29, 2007 I also got mine at Photo Village.....have bought a few things there including some lenses...great service and price. I love the soft release.... fires off a shot now and then when putting the camera away....but its digital so I can live with it.
stunsworth Posted August 29, 2007 Share #7 Posted August 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) After years of using one of Tom's soft releases with an M2/3/6 I've stopped using them with the M8. The softie emphasises the notchy feel of the M8's shutter release IMHO and has a negative effect in terms of slow shutter speed shooting.
Guest stnami Posted August 29, 2007 Share #8 Posted August 29, 2007 Get some of the clear plasic buttons used for kitchen doors (prevents them from slamming), smaller, heaps cheaper, a bit harder but work just as well if not better
