Digital camera problem

I have a Digilux two camera which has a problem I can't seem to solve. When it is on the record mode (shooting mode), I cannot take a photo. What I see on the screen or through the viewfinder is the same thing, a picture that is all blurry and non-recognizable. It fact, it looks like a modern art painting. The camera still works on playback mode.

I have re-charged the battery and changed the memory card. Still the same thing. Any suggestions short of sending it in for repairs at Leica? Jim

Sounds like a variation of the Digilux dead sensor problem - welcome to the club! :D :D

This has been well described in several threads on this forum. There is a well-documented fault in the Sony sensor which causes it to fail after extended use. Leica have recognised the problem and have instituted an open-ended guarantee on the sensor (there is a note to this effect on their website) and will replace it f.o.c if you return the camera to them. However, there is currently a backlog and repairs are taking a couple of months or more.

Some people have been offered a discounted upgrade to a Digilux 3 as an alternative to repair.
