Of course I'd need to acquire an M8 first... The Luigi case might be a good solution for me. To be honest I didn't really like the grip, either. I assume Leica will not provide warranty service for cameras with it on, but after our warranties have expired, I don't see what the problem is. Besides, I have one M8 which is well out of warranty already... I have a faint recollection it could have been the screws being covered as mentioned by another poster. The information came from a person on the rangefinder forum, but I'm not able to find the details. As you say after the expiry date it shouldn't matter except Leica would probably insist on charging for cleaning off the old cover and adhesive and a standard replacement set etc. Bob. The rest will fit easily, though I think the extreme thinness around the base of the lens mount would be a challenge. As regards the screws, there used to be 4 on the front, 2 each side of the lens, now there are 3 each side at the back. I agree that the choice of adhesive is crucial. There are a couple of things users can do to make the camera less "slippery". First: put the damn strap around your neck or wrap it around your wrist. Neck is preferable. I admit to not doing this but it is sensible behavior and you gotta admit that you are not likely to drop it if you use the strap. Second: consider a tripod adapter. I bought the Kirk. Nicely machined, fits. works in my tipod head very well and gives you a vey nice hand hold. One finger around the lens the middle finger around the Kirk plate and you have a very steady grip. Leica needs a bump on the right side of the camera ala a Nikon F3 but suspect that would destroy the mystique. What do you use, not one of those cases, I hope. simon_hughes Posted September 1, 2007 Share #28 Posted September 1, 2007 Here's a cheap yet effective solution to the slippery M8 accessory grip: Go your local skateboard shop and ask for "grip tape". It comes typically in 8" width rolls but, of course you only need a few inches, and indeed they handed it to me at no charge! It is like sandpaper with adhesive on the back, and matches the black surface of the M8 almost perfectly! Cut a piece to fit, (I cut mine to wrap around but not overlap the rear spine), heat it up a bit with a hair dryer and then peel off the backing and wrap around the grip. Voila, makes it very non-slippery. I'm toying with adding a small patch on the upper rear position of the body (just to the right of the "Made in Germany") to give a thumb grip too.
