This lens does it all, not only  is it an excellent portrait lens but it's ability to  close focus down to 0.4 M.  Here is an example recently  taken ( hand held on an SL)

I love "old" glass.

Thanks Jos it's a winner , The glass is radio active this means they don't require more glass to  to  correct for aberration and distortions.  Modern camera lens require a lot more glass to  correct for these distortions,  ends up costing more money to  make.

I love my Canon 50mm f1.4 LTM (V1 from 1957), especially on my M9 Monochrom.

I can't wait to test it out on my SL1.
