Yellow_78 Posted May 7, 2021 Share #1 Posted May 7, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all! Recently, I stumbled upon this beautiful video on youtube created by the talented Fashion Photographer Pat Domingo. He is using an SL2 with a gimbal. Not sure what lens, but I am curious to know what focusing mode he is using! He shoots the whole scene in one take moving around the room, going up close to the subject and then moving further away and focus seems to stay perfect always! How do you think he keeps focus? Afc or M, or M with some sort of follow focus? It's such an elegant/moving little production I cant stop watching it! Any thoughts welcome. Btw.. whenever I try AFc, the SL2 is a better hunter than I am 🤣.

nicci78 Posted May 8, 2021 Share #6 Posted May 8, 2021 I think that it is just fixed manual focusing aka hyperfocal. Lens has been stopped down to get maximum depth of field. Maybe in 4K APS-C crop mode to get even more DoF. Just look at how everything stays in focus. Just remember that hyperfocal will always be faster and more reliable than the best AF in the world. 😉
