No idea when I'll have lenses for it, tho'! Again, thanks to Guy! Boy, you're going to have a lot of fun with that! And starting soon too. You know the M8 is probably the only digital camera that I could start using right out of the box without looking at the documentation. Certainly the easiest digital camera I've ever used. I've had the best luck through eBay with regard to lenses. Dealers and private parties have treated me very well. Snag one of those used CV15mm wide angle lenses and some ugly old 2.0 Summicron 35mm. That will get you started until Noctilux fever strikes...
Maggie_O Posted August 28, 2007 Author Share #24 Posted August 28, 2007 I've been coveting a Noctilux since I was old enough to read the brochure. But I'll have to suffer a bit longer....
DaveB Posted August 28, 2007 Share #25 Posted August 28, 2007 I've been coveting a Noctilux since I was old enough to read the brochure. Yes, you and me both. But you know what? I bought a 1.4 50mm Summilux and I just might be happy with that. If I spend $2000 more I'm not going to be that much happier. The 1.4 is an outstanding portrait lens, with bokeh to die for and it's easy to handle. Gosh it's great in low light. That Noctilux is awful big. I've decided that I don't want to own one. I want my next door neighbor to own one.
jrc Posted August 28, 2007 Share #26 Posted August 28, 2007 As I mentioned on another thread, I've had a bit of trouble with Amazon and photo equipment...they ship from third parties, sometimes, and sometimes when they say "in stock, it's not actually in stock. So I ordered a $999 lens on August 14, it turned out that it was not in stock, but there was a note on my account that said delivery was estimated at Aug. 17-27. I let it go. But now, on the 27th, the order form has simply disappeared from my Amazon account listing. I don't know when the lens is coming, if at all, and I don't even know what store it's coming from...They haven't charged my Amex for it, though. I would also hardily recommend Popflash; I've had nothing but good service from them. JC
