Casey Jefferson Posted May 2, 2021 Share #1 Â Posted May 2, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone shoots the lens slightly stopped down @ f2? I wish to see how much difference between the 2 aperture setting, and if I should give up the 28cron in the future when I have enough funds to upgrade. I love the cron shooting at close range to have the "cutout" look while my 35cron asph doesn't, and wish to keep that rendering if the 28lux have it too. Advertisement Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Hi Casey Jefferson, Take a look here 28mm summilux @ f2?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mmradman Posted May 2, 2021 Share #2  Posted May 2, 2021 I shoot mine mostly between f5.6 and f8, occasionally between f2.8 and f4. Maximum aperture of f1.4 sometimes f2 is reserved for situations when light is poor, I mean seriously dark. The reason I bought the lens was available light photography not lens performance at max aperture.
Capuccino-Muffin Posted May 2, 2021 Share #3  Posted May 2, 2021 Can you please show examples of the “clear cut out” of your 28 Cron and the “not clear cut out” of your 35 cron?
mmradman Posted May 2, 2021 Share #4  Posted May 2, 2021 Difficult to pinpoint image at specific aperture as camera only records approximate value, this example is recorded at f1.4, my favourite square crop applied, not necessarily centred but some corner details are lost.   Welcome, dear visitor! Make sense, 28 isn't a common focal length for portraits but I started to use it and it gives more interesting results than the 35. 1
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Looks great, I need to study more of the 28lux wide open images although the images in the 28lux wide open image thread did not convince me somewhat. Probably not going to have a chance to test shoot with one at where I live, I'll definitely shoot some when I have a chance.
