Anyone using the LEE85 Filter System with wide angle M lenses?

Hi,

Does any of you use the LEE85 Filter System with your wide angle M lenses? And if so, what are your thoughts and experiences with this combination?

I need some ND filters for my newly acquired 28 mm Elmarit ASPH V2. Coming from the world of Canon DSLR's, I have used the LEE100 Filter System extensively. I believe these two systems, the LEE85 and the LEE100, are quite identical except for their size, of course.

But before making the investment, I'm curious to hear other peoples experiences. Any negative ones?

I use regular B+W ND filters. 3 stops will do in 95% of the situations.

I agree. 3 stops is often a good solution. And regular filters are more handy than the filter systems.

On the other hand, with a filter system you can use the same filters across different lenses with different diameters. And I also really like the so-called Big Stopper from Lee Filters.

So for me there is no way around the Lee85 Filter System, I guess...

I have no experience with Lee. But at a certain moment I’ve decided to buy for each lens its own ND filter and yellow filter. I hate it to change filters each and every time.

Like Gobert, I hate changing filters each time and I bought a series of individual standard ND, colour and polariser filters for each lens.

Though I bought separately the Lee 85 system.

It works like a charm. The quality is solid and the system easy to use. I never used the 100 so I cannot compare. 

I took the Lee 85 system for the ND Grad and Reverse ND. But what is remarkable is that you can stack up to 3 filters. So I ended buying the Little and Big Stoppers as well as the Polariser.

So if you need to stack up filters and/or if you need the flexibility of the grads or reverse, then it is a great / the only solution. But Gobert is right, sometimes for just a 3 or 6 standard ND, the Lee system is an overkill.

I started using H&Y 150x100mm GND magnetic system on WATE - using 67 adapter ring, work well using liveview /EVF.

I believe the filter holder will be adoptable to lenses with smaller filter size via one of the three Revo Rings once these are available.

It definitely helps. It's good to hear your experiences with the LEE85 System. It sounds very much like the LEE100 System that I know.

I didn't know that system. I will give it a closer look before purchasing.
