It has been stated somewhere that each individual film camera is put together by a single person but not that only one person is employed to do this in Portugal and Germany. I have written here a few times that there is only one technician (part-time) at Wetzlar for repairing film cameras but that is separate from the production process. I was told about the single repair guy by a well informed individual at Leica UK so I have no reason to doubt it is or was true. Leica may have since trained up additional staff. There are at least two senior analog experts at Leica (one of them part time), I was told by customer care, and possibly more non-senior. 1 minute ago, Ouroboros said: I think most people would agree that you have good reason to complain, as I do, but you seem intent on dominating every thread about  MP/MA cameras with your own personal agenda.  It’s becoming obsessive and not likely to achieve much that’s going to be helpful to you.  You are right. Couldnt help it. Very upset. I will stop for a while, but I can not say that I will not continue sharing this experience to others. I definitely do not mean to dominate any thread.

That light-leak example is very interesting because I had my first M-A replaced and my third given a full Wetzlar CLA for a similar intermittent light leak problem. There's a thread somewhere here where I explained the problem.  Although no firm conclusion was ever reached (or at least communicated to me) I think the cause was possibly a combination of something about the construction of the M-A (maybe a seal is or was missing) and my then fidgety habit of often taking up the slack of the film spool when out in the field. My guess is that lifting the rewind knob outside in bright light to take up the slack can, if the light is in a particular direction, result in some light leakage (although I was never able to replicate this using a torch in a darkened room). What I do know, is that since both cameras were replaced and/or repaired and having rid myself of the habit of fiddling with the rewind knob out in the field, I have not seen the light leak problem again. For the same price as a new MP I would think you could find a black paint M4.

This thread seems hijacked with other topics. Sorry. We should stop. Edited April 28, 2021 by gabrielaszalos

I tried 6 labs and believe me, 4 of them scratch film (and denied). Before knowing for sure that it’s the camera double check your dev process. My point to my post is that there are people (like me) posting potential problems without knowing the root. I am not saying that is your case, specially when they have changed three times.. My MP was and is in perfect condition, still under guarantee
