Hi Everyone,

My Leica SL started acting weird this morning. Whenever I activate the EVF (by bringing my eye close to it) it shuts down completely. I thought it was caused by a battery or a faulty SD card, but now everything is charged / formatted etc. and the camera is without any accessories.

It doesn't turn back on until I remove the battery and put it back. But then the issue repeats.

Any advice?

Thanks a lot.

Regards,

Giorgi

is the eye sensor  dirty?

if you switch to EVF, not EVF extended, does it work?

Sensor seems clean. I use the camera only in my home studio... I tried switching to the EVF and it cause the crash as well.

Now the camera isn't turning on at all 😞

Is there a way to do a hard reset on SL, or full cleanup, including firmware updates?

Thanks.

Sounds ominous. You can do a reset, but this only resets all your menu settings:

RESETTING ALL MENU SETTINGS

This function allows you to delete all previous custom settings in the menu at once, and to reset them to the factory default settings. In the menu's  SETUP  section, select  Reset Camera, and 1. 2. in the following confirmation submenu, confirm or reject the process. Notes: •  When resetting to the factory default settings, your settings for the date, time and language are not reset. •  This reset also applies to the profiles that may have been created and saved with  Load  Profile  (see p. 256).”

Make sure you’ve tried different SD cards and batteries. If still no go then a trip to Leica will be needed.
