I have recently made the jump from shooting Leica Q and then Q2 to my first M camera (M4-P). I picked up a 50m summicron V4 to pair with the camera. The aperture ring has a very slight play in it. It moves forward and back and I can wiggle it I would say by less than a millimetre in for and aft  but it’s there. Is this normal? My Q’s did not have any play whatsoever hence the ask.  Then lens performance is good and no other issues. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum Theo.

It is difficult to compare a relatively young Q lens with a much older manual lens. Undoubtedly the latter has seen a lot more wear and possibly is in need of little TLC.  If it was not described as having the described 'wiggle room', I would be inclined to  speak to the vendor and reach some accommodation over remedial servicing costs. Failing that, return it for a refund.

Thanks for the advice. It was not described as mint. I can live with it if it’s ‘normal’ for these lenses to have this sort of play in them. If it’s meant to be rock solid then I will go back. I was hoping to get someone’s opinion on this particular lenses behaviour. Appreciate the welcome and advice. Thanks.
