01maciel Posted March 13, 2021 Share #1 Posted March 13, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am wondering how M-users manage the GPS coordinates from EXIF. Do you track your GPS coordinates somehow? If so How do you get the GPS data into the DNG/JPG file given that you are not using the Visoflex 020? What tracker do you use (smartphone, dedicated GPS device,...)? When browsing through your archive after a while (or years later) what kind of tool do you use to get to your location on the Internet (Google Maps, Bing Maps, Openstreet Maps,...)? Ralf1960Mono Posted March 13, 2021 Share #2 Posted March 13, 2021 I use myTracks on my iPhone. You can synchronize your track with a Mac and then with Lightroom. Easy Workflow. Just a few clicks more. GPS data are then used by LR to show your locations on a map.
fotomas Posted March 13, 2021 Share #3 Posted March 13, 2021 I have the multifunctional hand grip on my M 240. That has GPS.
marchyman Posted March 13, 2021 Share #4 Posted March 13, 2021 I used to use the track log from a GPS for locations. Today I'd probably use my phone, but truth be told I rarely bother geotagging images any more. Given a tracklog and a folder full of images the appropriate location can be obtained my matching the timestamp of each image with timestamps from the tracklog. This does assume that the date/time in your camera is correct. There are several programs to do the matching/updating. Exiftool does a nice job if you don't mind running programs from the command line. I wrote my own app for the Mac that can match a tracklog, but its primary purpose is to assign or edit locations by clicking on a map. It is one of several free programs available on the Mac app store for doing that job.
Chuck Albertson Posted March 13, 2021 Share #5 Posted March 13, 2021 Since my steam-powered version of Lightroom stopped supporting the Map module, I use the same function in Photo Mechanic.

stunsworth Posted March 14, 2021 Share #7 Posted March 14, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use the multifunctional handgrip on my M240. My only complaint is that it’s slow to get the first GPS ‘lock’ of the day.
