Welcome to the forum,  Harrison.

D Lux cameras are superb, the younger, the better. Only you can decide whether an older model would meet your needs. Why not find a vendor who will allow you try before you buy?

As an extra camera bag digital shooter would you recommend the D-Lux 2 or 3?

I already have the V Lux 5 and love it and was looking for a an extra small camera. Are they worth the money in 2021?

Thanks!

Hello Harrison,

In the absence of good English, I use Google to answer.

I have a C-Lux, otherwise V-Lux 5, and a D-Lux 7. Before that, D-Lux 4, 5, 6 and 109 and others. (Leica X-Vario, V-Lux 1, 2.und 3 and div. Lumix G)

Compared to D-Lux 6, the D-Lux 7 is more visible in terms of image quality increased. The sensor and processor correspond to those of the GX9.

This was my reason to upgrade to the D-Lux 7. The results of the D-Lux 7 correspond to the very good results of my ex GX9. My GX9 + lenses are sold.

With D-Lux 7 and C-Lux there is no need to change lenses. For this I use the "step zoom" option. I configured C + D-Lux identically, so changing from C to D is absolutely easy.

Both have almost identical features, which I don't use all, but everyone decides for themselves.

Note: D-Lux 7 is compatible with Digi-Lux 2 or 3 due to the technical development, sensor processor etc. only comparable to a limited extent.

kind regards

I have a D-Lux 2 that is still use occasionally. Produces perfectly decent photos, especially if you keep the ISO down to 80 and shoot in decent light. Files are noisy compared to more modern cameras and you might find it a problem to find the batteries and small enough SD cards these days. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to buy one but if you see one and the price is right, no reason not to get one to play with. Example picture from one:
