Ivar B Posted August 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yesterday, I finally gave in and bought an M8. I am sure the issue of lens coding has been discussed before, but maybe someone has got personal experience also over time. I coded 24/2.8 ASPH and 35/1.4 ASPH, and I wonder if I should code 50/1.4 ASPH LHSA and 2/90 APO. In the documentation from Leica which was supplied with the M8, it is said that coding is recommended for 16 - 35 mm lenses. Does anyone have any more information or experience with coding of 50mm and 90mm and if it is worthwhile?

carstenw Posted August 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 24, 2007 Just if you want the EXIF data. If that is not important to you (and it is incomplete in any case: no aperture), then you will need it. The infrared issue is non-existent with those lenses, when used with a simple filter. Sean Reid's reviews have much more information: http://www.reidreviews.com/
