Bobby Posted February 12, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I frequently use long exposure (several minutes), but unfortunately the Q2 does not offer such feature. The M10M does, but it's twice the price with lens. Is there any hope long exposure will be enabled with future firmware updates?
Advertisement Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Hi Bobby, Take a look here Long exposure in Q2 Mono. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
DirkR440 Posted February 13, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 13, 2021 I don't have a Q2 and I don't know what the max exposure time is... I assume something like 60sec? If you want to make a longer exposure you could still make multiple pictures at 60sec and then stitch them together in Photoshop to simulate a longer exposure time. It is actually working quite good. I tried that in the past with pictures that I made with my drone.
Bobby Posted February 13, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted February 13, 2021 I usually do 5/6 min exposure. Provided there is no in-camera noise reduction, I could try taking 5 or 6 pictures one after the other then..

Is there any hope long exposure will be enabled with future firmware updates? 120 seconds depending on settings (dial rotated to 1+) So, no real Bulb setting - but the M10M only allows 4 minutes. twice the price, twice the bulb time :). I guess it's a Leica NR thing - somehow they seem to think users are unable to use long exposure noise reduction techniques and software Edited February 16, 2021 by nwphil
Bobby Posted February 16, 2021 Author Share #5 Posted February 16, 2021 isn't it 16 minutes on the 10M?

However, doing a quick search, the 4minutes time for the M10M showed up again..... The M10R - does indeed allow (per manual) 16 minutes

I agree, but I seldom use the M or Q on a tripod - actually I have neither set with a base plate or bracket. Do carry it on my gear bag, but for me they are mainly handheld cameras - however I do have other cameras, so I don't feel much those limitations as someone else using a M as only camera (not that is anything wrong with such). I believe it's a mix of avoiding having to deal with sensor heat, noise and other stuff, and imposing a certain iq level that makes Leica resort to limiting long exposure times. 16 minutes on the M10R is 8 times the time allowed on the Q but still pitiful in 2021
