troyfreund Posted August 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know where I can find more info about these camera bags--nice, black leather bags. Quite swanky. Any idea of a website or anything? Thanks for your thoughts. Troy

stunsworth Posted August 24, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 24, 2007 Accidentally losing a comma could radically change their advertising from... "Look, a Prat" to... "Look a Prat!"
troyfreund Posted August 24, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted August 24, 2007 Thanks alot for the help, guys! I've got the Bora and I've had the Mariner. Great bags, but for the Mariner, not such a great strap in my opinion. If you come across these though, check 'em out. Real Nice work. I call the Bora my "dress bag," for when I want to take the camera out, but am wearing a suit or nicer outfit. It carries a M-body with lens and a 2nd lens and flash, a few rolls of film or two M-bodies with short lenses attached. I've had mine for years and really dig it, but have not ever seen this brand since I first got the bags. Troy Welcome, dear visitor! masjah Posted August 24, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 24, 2007 I've got a VERY similar style bag made by R Marini (France) which I bought from The Classic Camera (so it's got TCC's name stamped on the fastening tag). I wonder if R Marini make the Prat bags on an OEM basis? Nice bag.
hankg Posted August 24, 2007 Share #7 Posted August 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't believe Prat make camera bags anymore. I got a Mariner on closeout at B+H, it looks a bit like a lot of fishing bags in design. The bag itself is great -the leather really holds up to abuse. I replaced the strap and the internal padded dividers though, they were in no way up to the standards of the bag itself.
leitz_not_leica Posted August 24, 2007 Share #8 Posted August 24, 2007 "dress bag"? WTF I cannot recommend leather or canvas bags. I use nylon bags (Domke). 1. Nylon is easily hand washed w/o shrinking or deforming. 2. Nylon is inedible for mold, fungus, etc.
troyfreund Posted August 25, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted August 25, 2007 Dude, what's wrong with the notion of a "dress bag"? I've got my work bags, for when I need all my gear for when I go on assignments--Tamracs and Domkes--but for when I'm going out with my gal, dressing up a bit ourselves, I'm not gonna take my beaten Tamrac or Domke--I'll take the Prat--it looks sharp and doesn't proclaim "Camera bag, steal me!" So, I defend the notion of a "Dress Bag." take care, Troy
