I still struggle with making decent looking jpg files for internet showing from M8. - Should be simple, he? Occationally I use the 'right out of the box' jpg. If the motive permits. But often artifacts and jagged lines prehibits use of these jpg's. They look awaful.

Then I try to make them out of the RAW files by going via Phase One (awful program! Is it really so that you can only look at a RAW file at two different sizes?). I make TIFF which I open in PS and make a jpg in desired size there. The jagged lines are still around. What am I missing out?

I am assuming you are referring to the jagged edges on the lamp shade in the left center of the image? This looks like sharpening artifacts to me. Where and when do you sharpen? And what settings do you use? Do you also see jagged edges in the original size image? What do you use for scaling it down?

Phase one is kicking out the best details...and the worst jaggies, basket weave noise and artifacts. Please post 100% crops of the troubled areas, I am experiencing the very same thing and I am getting to the point of wanting to put the camera up for sale. CS3 RAW has by *far* the most control, but the moire problem is much harder to fix and the images look softer to the point of the whole rig being a waste to use.

Join this thread, it is dedicated to exploring this problem:

The M8 seems like it wants to put out the best files I have ever seen, then these things get in the way and make me wonder if it is the sensor or the need for a better raw converter.
