Hi,

My SL is also running firmware version 3.7

In M mode the Shutter does go to B one click after 30M

In S (Shutter Priority) it does not. This makes sense as the camera would be unable to calculate an aperture if the shutter speed is undefined.

Cheers

Many thanks indeed Roy for taking the time to help me. I tried to follow your advice but it still did not work. So in desperation I reset the camera. Now it works when I do what you said.📈

Best wishes

Mike

That was a smart move to reset the camera. What type of photos do you intend to take with the bulb mode ?

Thank you, I am not sure! I am going to experiment with small aperture low ISO landscape and night sky shots when there is no moon. I am trying to understand my camera better so its functions become second nature to me. I don’t find the manual very helpful nor understand why Leica don’t put a video detailed manual on YouTube...

What use do you make of Bulb?

One advantage of Bulb mode is that with a long exposure you can stop whenever you want.  If there is a sudden unwanted intrusion in the frame, like an annoying aircraft in a star trail photo, or a sudden change in the lighting, you don't have to wait until the exposure time is over.

Oh thank you - I did not know that.

I’ve never used it. I’ve some long 5-8 min exposures for some landscape shots: Isle of Arran, but nothing any longer. I could see Bulb working well for fireworks and lightning.
