Based on the lenses I own - and much like the red of the red dot - the colour appears to have changed slightly over time. Also, you may want to consider that the recess of the characters on many Leica lenses (and bodies) appears to be shallower than that on the SLR lens used in the video you posted, so that DIY may prove to be more difficult than it seems.

Sorry I have no such info about the appropriate colour of paint, but I did see a video which I can't seem to find now (maybe it was at the Leica store) of Leica painting engravings with a syringe and needle injecting the paint into the engravings. I suppose a brush would do the trick in any case but just relaying what I've seen, might be helpful if you DIY.

Side thing, but maybe more relevant to your question, I sent a lens in to my local Leica service centre recently and they repainted it gratis, but oddly the paint is off-orange (reddish-orange?). I didn't complain because it was free. If I knew the orange would look that way, I'd have asked for red to match the red dot (I'd have liked grey-white like the Leitz Wetzlar but the red lens bauble/dot would have clashed). I reckon you have some white enamel paint you could blend it with the yellow/orange if the orange was too dark (never tried, but I imagine it might work).

Does someone knows the RAL or Pantone number of the orange lettering on recent standard Leica lenses? I have some orange enamel paint but it is a bit off to red.
