tappouni Posted January 25, 2021 Share #1  Posted January 25, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) So I own a classic Summilux 35mm lens, which dates from around 1970. It has some haze present within the lens - it's on one of the elements towards the rear, between the aperture blades and the rear element. It's very difficult to see in natural light, but if a torch is shone at a certain angle, it can be seen around the outer half of the inner element. I wouldn't say it's especially serious, but it's something I would like to address - I'm looking to sell the lens in the near future, and would prefer to sort the haze out before selling, if I can. I've been trying to get the haze to show up in an image, to demonstrate, but unfortunately I haven't been successful at this. Presumably it would require a CLA to hopefully remove the haze - does anyone have any recommendations? I'm based in the UK.
Advertisement Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Hi tappouni, Take a look here Haze on classic Summilux 35mm - any recommendations? (UK). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
douglas fry Posted January 25, 2021 Share #2  Posted January 25, 2021 Try Aperture in London, they sorted my 50mm Summilux when it wouldn't focus to infinity while I waited! https://www.apertureuk.com/our-services/camera-repair/ Whether they are doing repairs right now I'm not sure but worth a call. Failing that of course maybe Leica in Duke Street would check it out https://uk.leica-camera.com/Service-Support/Repair-Maintenance
pgk Posted January 25, 2021 Share #3  Posted January 25, 2021 Try: https://www.cameraworks-uk.com who have done similar work for me. Excellent job they did too. You may have a wait though because they are busy as a result of being good. They have one of my lenses for adjustment at the moment.
James24 Posted January 25, 2021 Share #4 Â Posted January 25, 2021 I have heard that Aperture have a faster turnaround than most, so if you want the work done quickly, they're probably your best bet. I have gone to Malcolm Taylor in the past and highly recommend him, but he may have retired now. I will follow this thread with interest and see what other recommendations you get, as I have a 50mm Summilux in need of some love and attention sometime.
