shinyphotos Posted January 19, 2021 Share #1  Posted January 19, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I dropped my 246 with 90mm attached onto the frozen streets of Riga last year. Mercifully the glass is fine but the filter step-up ring and filter I had on it were not so lucky. It turns out, however, that my third party step-up ring managed to fuse itself with the filter threads on the lens. It turns out that the 90mm has a built-in step-down ring of some kind though. In the picture here I've drawn a circle around the grey-ish ring. This is a part that unscrews from the front of the lens. When it's unscrewed the integrated lens hood can be removed. I need to get that grey-ish step-down ring thingy! I emailed DAG (only yesterday so I don't expect a reply so quickly) and emailed Leica support and my Leica dealer. Nobody has gotten back to me. Can anyone help me find this little gizmo? Thank you! Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Sounds like this will be a 'service spare' so I'd guess it will be supplied by Leica to 'accredited' repairers. From what I've read about DAG (are you in the USA?) on the forum it sounds like he is best reached by phone. If you can't get hold of him, try other well-known repairers to see if they can help. You may find that a special tool is needed to fit and tighten the ring and it may even be locked in place somehow so replacement may not be quite so simple as it appears. shinyphotos Posted January 20, 2021 Author Share #3 Â Posted January 20, 2021 Thank you. I got in touch but he did not have the part. I did finally get someone at Leica USA to pick up the phone and they managed to find the part and sell me one! Huzzah!
