gettons Posted January 12, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 12, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone, yesterday I got myself an M10-M and I noticed that when I take a SINGLE shot in DNG the red light blinks 3 times. Now, in itself it's not necessarily a problem, however my M10-R (which is supposed to sport basically the same hardware, apart from the lack of the color filter) does not. I am using the very same type of SD card (SanDisk Extreme PRO V30 U3 class 10) which is fast enough given the hardware capabilities of the M10s in general. I can swap the SD card just to make sure and actually use the very same unit, but I doubt it's because of the card in itself. I have not checked the firmware version yet, but I was wondering if other M10-M users can maybe check this for me?

Ken Abrahams Posted January 12, 2021 Share #2 Posted January 12, 2021 (edited) Mine doesn’t flash when shooting. It does flash when changing SD card and when turning off. My SL has a blinking red light when shooting multiple frames in succession. I do not use fast cards with M10M only 95 mb/s ones Edited January 12, 2021 by Ken Abrahams
gettons Posted January 12, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted January 12, 2021 Mmmm that' s exactly what's happening with my M10-R... I literally purchased the camera yesterday and I am wondering what should I do next.
Ken Abrahams Posted January 12, 2021 Share #4 Posted January 12, 2021 Try using another SD card first.
Keith (M) Posted January 12, 2021 Share #5 Posted January 12, 2021 Hmmm. I have had my M10M for eleven months and the red light has always blinked. Tried it just now and it blinks circa 16 to 19 times after each single shot. I always put it down to the slow write speed of the card - an elderly 8Gb Lexar Premium Series SDHC 100x C6 - whatever all that means! The fastest card I have is a 64Gb Lexar Professional SDXC 1667x 250Mb/s in my A7III. Just reformatted that and tried it in the M10M. Single shot = 3 to 6 flashes. As I rarely shoot anything more than single shot, can't say that the blinking/flashing has ever been a concern, particularly as my M240 has always exhibited similar behaviour and that is writing much less data. Also, I checked the firmware, and that's the very latest (although there was no mention in any of the release notes). Also, it has been formatted in the camera. Yes, 3 blinks for me too, with the SDCard I mentioned. Again, not a big deal if this was happening for all M10-M owners, but it does not seem to be the case. And nope, this is not a concern at all, I am only wondering why some do and some others don't when taking a single DNG shot. That's all I am saying, and given the huge cost I just want to make sure there is nothing wrong with my unit.

Would you mind to temporarily disable the L-JPG, and try with DNG only please?
Keith (M) Posted January 12, 2021 Share #11 Posted January 12, 2021 I've been playing musical cards, reformatting as I go. At present an 8Gb Lexar Professional SDHC 400x is fitted. DNG + L-JPG = 6 blinks; DNG only = 4 blinks.

gettons Posted January 13, 2021 Author Share #14 Posted January 13, 2021 Upon contacting Leica customer service it appears this is a normal behaviour, therefore I am going to end the discussion here and thanks those who provided their feedback. Oh, you can never end a discussion on the Forum! Above I meant to say I just use DNG. Freudian slip. Like when I asked my wife to pass the salt the other day. It came out, "You wicked woman, you ruined my life!"

Yeah, I meant “no need for anyone else to help me out on this as my enquiry is now completed, but please take the most from the discussion everyone in the same place”. cheers
