I remember a time when people would engrave their social security numbers on their cameras. People would hitchhike without qualms too.

Alas, those days are long gone.

Some crooks used my wife's SS# to file fraudulent unemployment claims last spring. If I hadn't caught on and notified the authorities, we'd have been in for a quite a surprise at tax time.

It's probably a losing cause at this point with the internet and the proliferation of social media, but keeping any and all personal information under wraps is a smart choice imho.
