jms0784 Posted December 24, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 24, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all, I am mainly a film shooter but bought a Leica M10 a few months ago. I have only taken a few hundred images with the camera but recently noticed that I can barely read the red LED shutter speeds/light meter in any sort of moderately bright light or light background. When comparing to the red Lead's in my M6 the difference.in clarity is like night and day. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks
Advertisement Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 Hi jms0784, Take a look here Faint Viewfinder/Red LEDs. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted December 24, 2020 Share #2 Posted December 24, 2020 The LED brightness should be self-adjusting to the scene brightness. That is part of the function of the little circular brightness sensor/window (on the top front near the Leica logo). You might check that physically to see if grime or something is blocking it (in which case it will think you are permanently "in the dark") - and test the system by pointing the camera from bright sky to dark shade and back to see if the meter readout brightness changes at all. It is certainly possible that that sensor (or its wiring) is malfunctioning.
