Steve Fryer Posted September 9, 2007 Share #23 Posted September 9, 2007 Thanks so much for reminding us what an original Garry Winogrand was. He is one of my true street photography influences. I love the contrarian nature of the man, and the genuine sensitivity when you would least expect it. Almost as if when there was no one there to argue with, he would start one with himself. With all the volume of negs he shot, he must have tested the limits of Leica reliability.
ocgarza Posted September 20, 2007 Author Share #24 Posted September 20, 2007 I want to thank everyone for the nice comments about the Garry Winogrand essay. It was a real eye opener for me to discover how many photographers - and especially rangefinder photographers - were influenced not only by Winogrand's work, but by his photographic philosophy. He still lives through the work of many photographers. O.C.
