Today FedEx showed up with one of my free filters from Leica (46 mm. Yay! :) ). A friend, also in Japan, received both of his filters today as well (46 mm and 39 mm).

The interesting thing is that, as others have noted, the Country of Manufacture is listed as "Japan," and the filters were shipped from Germany.

That's a fairly long round trip!

So if they were made in Germany, we would have had them sooner since they only would have had to travel half as far!

Now that they're here, anybody want to trade a 46 (I have a spare) for a 43 or 39?

Hey! I have a 43 coming!

But seeing that it probably originated (or will originate) here and will go all the way to Germany just to be sent back here, I'm not sure if it's actually coming or going.

I'll let you know. ;)

Has anyone, other then me, thought that the actual glass is made in Japan and then sent to Germany to be placed into the ring.

Otherwise the Mabe in Germany stamp/label it totally false advertising.

I never thought of that.

I just looked at the filter itself and it does say "Germany" on it (although it doesn't say "Made In ..."). On the proforma invoice that came with the filter the "Cntry of Manuf." is listed as "Japan." So you could be right. They might be assembled in Germany.

Either that or "Germany" stamped on the filter ring actually means "This filter has been to Germany." ;)
