I have recently purchased a used Leica V-Lux (typ 114). It functions well, but there is a continuous quiet hum whenever it is switched on. No changes to settings nor a factory reset stop this hum. Is this normal, and, if not, what could it mean?

The dealer is now in lockdown, and I am unable at present to return the camera.

Welcome, Tim. That is strange, in my experience. If changing the battery doesn't cure the hum, I would report it to the vendor. Dealers in lockdown usually manage their online business and may be open to receive and post packages.
