My apologies in advance, as I know that is somewhat 'tabu' to discuss pricing in the forums, so please do PM me...nicely..pls 😁

Considering an used vs the Q2M - can't like the Q2 that much (sorry), and do have M lenses that want to keep on using.

So, assuming I can find one in good condition, what is the going sale price  lately?

Thanks

Phil

I haven't seen many

You may find dealers have waiting lists and they don't reach the advertised stage.

For nwphil, probably only 10-15% off new I would guess, maybe less https://www.schouten-select.com/index.php/products/leica/leica-m-mount/leica-m-mount-cameras/leica-m10-monochrom-box-2873.html

@nwphil  Regarding  the link posted by Jeff S,  a question  to ask yourself is this:  Is buying a used M10 Mono to save $700 - about 8.5% - a good trade off, seeing how you would have no two year new camera warranty?

Dealer states full 2 year warranty.  But the question remains.  [There are also some dealers that will discount new Leica gear, but will call it demo or mint used or other discreet tactics to not run afoul of Leica. ]

Indeed - just for $700 less is not worth - not that 700 bacaroo's are exactly loose change in my pocket

but,  despite all sense, logics and what-not, I am on the waiting list for the Q2M. It's either sell my M240 and get the M10-R or the Q2M

Given you have M lenses, appear willing to embrace monochrome, and want to conserve funds, a nice M246 (with dealer warranty) seems a good option. Especially if you don’t print large or crop significantly, which are key reasons for extra resolution from the newer options. Even an original M Monochrom, which can be found mint with new sensor and Leica warranty for under $4k, can produce beautiful files.

That's a good option indeed, and was considered - it's no doubt a very specialized tool, and despite having no problems with changing lenses often, actually what i want is indeed that fixed lens "limitation".

The M246, M10-R or or M9M would be just another camera with interchangeable lenses, and actually along with embracing monochrome, the fixed single lens completes it all for me now

LOL - I know - contradicting myself. I have seen M10R conversions to b&w and ....darn they look nice. Why the appeal? reducing the amount of cameras. Way too many lenses as it is (outside leica system), and getting silly on cameras - 2 DSLR, 2 m4/3, 1M, 1M film, 3 half frame film.....running out of fingers to press shutter buttons.

Lots of modern digital cameras can produce superb b/w conversions, and prints, in the right hands. And they have the benefit of using color channels in post for added tonal flexibility and convenience.  A Monochrom (any version) also produces superb files, requiring less flexible optical filters, but with the benefit of a totally different b/w mindset and workflow, akin to shooting with b/w film.  I’m perfectly satisfied shooting and making prints with both options, via M10 or SL2, and M Monochrom.  Different tools for different needs and experiences.  No viewer could distinguish my prints if I instead used an M10-R or M10 Monochrom.
