biglouis Posted August 20, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Getting back pictures from my M6TTL taken in strong backlight I realised that I need a convenient fill in flash for the odd occasion. I hasten to add I do not photograph people, mainly landscape and objects in the landscape. I thought maybe I could use the "fill" capability in Lightroom to improve back it just increases noise. Any suggestions? LouisB

erl Posted August 20, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 20, 2007 Louis, using fill flash on landscapes can be dodgy. The foreground will always receive more light than the the distance, tending to give a 'flashed' look. As a generalisation, I would try overxposing on the settings you are currently using. This will have a more uniform result for 'general' scenes. Sophisticated techniques can achieve the result you seem to want, but you did say, ocassionally, which implies you don't want to go to too much bother. Give the 'more exposure' trick a go and then try tweaking in your RAW processor to bring back the darker areas. I find C1 better than Lightroom, but that is purely personal. Might be worth a try anyway. Good luck.
ChadHahn Posted August 24, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 24, 2007 What I used to do is meter the background at the flash sync speed and then adjust the flash so the output won't overpower the subject at the chosen f-stop. Hope it works. Chad
