AntonioF Posted October 19, 2020 Share #1  Posted October 19, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there, I need help for my M6. Lately I've noticed lighter bands at the long sides of the frames, particularly at the bottom side. Could it be a light leak? It looks like it's in the negatives as well, so it should not be a scan problem. Also in the first photo it looks like there was a curtain problem. What's your opinion? Is it time for a CLA? Advertisement Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 Hi AntonioF, Take a look here M6, possible light leak?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stray cat Posted October 19, 2020 Share #2 Â Posted October 19, 2020 I think, looking at those Antonio, I'd be putting the camera in for a CLA if I were you. If I had to hazard a guess it looks like you might be right about having a problem with the shutter curtain. But there might be a light leak AS WELL. I'd use Youxin Ye in Massachusetts USA for things like this but I'd be inclined to send it to whoever is most reputable and who is reasonably convenient to you. Best of luck - let us know how it goes.

I messaged a place in UK asking for their opinion. Youxin Ye is a little complicated to reach from Italy because of the shipping.

He's also on the opposite side of the globe from me but he's very, very good - I have three Leica lenses on their way back from him as we speak - as are, I understand, a number of people in Europe and the UK. I'll email him. Let's see what he thinks. I had an M3 restored by Cameraworks-UK and they did a very good job. I'm checking with them as well, but I think they turnout time is more than 6 months now.

Cameraworks-UK have a very good reputation but they seem to be overwhelmed at the present time, they still have not replied to my emails that I sent them a couple of months ago. I had a couple of Rolleiflex TLRs CLA'd by Aperture of London and I see that they are now accredited Leica dealers, maybe give them a call.
