In case anyone else encounters this issue in the future: this problem resolved itself a couple of months ago, after about 5 months of use. I had left my M10-D on and in WiFi mode overnight (by accident), so long that the battery drained from 80% to 0%. In the morning, I charged the drained battery from 0% to 100%, and the next time I tried using WiFi mode (I've been trying every once in a while), it worked! So I'm not sure what the answer was, but maybe in the case of my unit the WiFi startup process and green flashing light (supposed to flash for a minute or so the first time it's activated) had to be left on for an exceedingly long time (ie hours, because I've tried for as long as 30 minutes in the past). Either that, or it was a coincidence.

Congrats! I would connect to Fotos for some setting of the M10D that can only be accessed through the App. So wifi connectivity is required. Your case is strange though. Is the wifi turning on normally now? A shame because it's the digital camera I always come back to when I feel like using digital.

I never use Fotos for settings - it has none I need.  Aperture, ISO, focus and shutter speed are on the lens.  I do use it occasionally for photo reviewing (when out) and more often for remote triggering.

Sure the settings in fotos are nice to have though not required.

Yes, the WiFi now works as advertised, so the camera is fully functional. I didn't miss the WiFi when I didn't have it, but now I use FOTOS to format the SD card, and I occasionally use the app to take photos where parallax is an issue (for example taking photos out of an airplane window where the viewfinder shows a completely different framing from what the lens sees).

I wouldn't have purchased the visoflex before I had this experience, but now I'm considering it (depending on what the next one has for specs).

I'm really enjoying the M10-D though, with and without WiFi it's been a lot of fun and it really stands up to abuse! 😇
