jawaz Posted October 15, 2020 Share #1 Â Posted October 15, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there, recently picked this up and impressed with the image quality. However has anyone got the AFL button on the lens working with the SL2? Any thoughts on how to use it? thanks
Advertisement Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 Hi jawaz, Take a look here Sigma 14-24 L mount on SL2 - AFL button?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Sjz Posted October 15, 2020 Share #2  Posted October 15, 2020 Hi,  I cannot make it do anything. I tried, just because it was there, not because I wanted to use it, the joystick performs that role for me. It ‘irks me’ that it is there and does nothing, however most of the time I forget it exists and simply enjoy a great lens.

Yes - it is a bit annoying - I would have thought the L mount alliance would have agreed on some level of interfacing between the lens buttons and cameras. Maybe in a future firmware. BTW, my lens has firmware 1.2 on it - I saw 1.3 firmware has just a minor update for their focus optimisation process. Did you update to 1.3?

Going to show my ignorance, if my camera does not update automatically, then I have not done it.  It’s on the list of things to do when I visit a camera shop.  I have not rushed as I find the lens a revelation each time I put it on my camera, it really is excellent.
