Einst_Stein Posted October 9, 2020 Share #1  Posted October 9, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have 25mm ZM but now rarely use it. I have problem when shooting with outdoor architecture as part of the object in the frame. The perspective is just never right. Shooting indoors is fine. Now I am itch again in super wide angle, particularly 16mm, please share your experience how and when you use it, and what to pay attention. Gobert Posted October 9, 2020 Share #3 Â Posted October 9, 2020 I traded my 3.8/21 in for a wate. It is the perfect lens if you are not looking for a fast lens. Highly recommendable.
Jean-Michel Posted October 9, 2020 Share #4  Posted October 9, 2020 (edited) The Tri-Elmar is a really fine lens. and I use it quite a lot. It does have some distortion, but it rarely is distracting. The main issue for architectural work would be the wavy 'moustache' distortion that can be seen on straight lines at the top or bottom of the frame, especially at the 16 mm length . Here is an example: shot most likely at the 16 mm length. Note the distortion at the top of the building in the unprocessed file; for the processed file I only applied the LR profile, nothing else done to the file. The crop is just a result of the profile being applied. FYI, location was Budapest. I usually have the level on in the EFV2 (with my M-P) on to try and keep the vertical and horizontal level straight, but even doing this does not eliminate the mild distortion, but for most of my images that is not an issue; I had to search for an image to show that distortion.
