Focus via Joystick

I'm trying out the focus from the joystick method , talk about retraining the brain. My question is , with thousands of presses on the joystick to focus over many years , is it designed to take suck "wear and tear".

I had six years on my S006 with back button focusing and no apparent issues at all...pretty sure it has a very very similar button to the SL and SL2.

Thank's for your reply Stuart. I'd be interested in any members who do "back button focusing" the pro's and cons.

I have used back-button focussibg on SL (for 4 years), SL2 (since released), S006/S3 and Nikon FF bodies without any problems. Rather the opposite... The main advantages - for me - is that you can put the focus point everywhere (with eg SL/SL2), and let the shutter do the rest - ie, to activate the shutter when you want to rake the photo(s). By combining focus and shutter you loose some time due to focus confirm before the shutter is activated. Using continuous focus, focus by the shutter button half-pressed may work. But in this case I prefer to keep the back-focus botton activated while taking photos. Different styles and habites, I believe.
